EU 2018 Healthcare Forum
The agenda for the Vanguard Forum for Healthcare Leaders 2018 is developed in partnership with the Advisory board, faculty, and other experts and is still being finalised. The agenda evolves through a dialogue with these stakeholders and the changing business environment to ensure it is topical and environment driven. Among the potential agenda topics for 2018 are:
What makes a leader great?
What are the traits that characterize great leaders? How much can they be developed and learned? How do great leaders compensate for their leadership weaknesses? The session will involve debate around different styles and use examples (case studies) of what works, and what does not.
Making change happen: Being a transformational leader
How can a leader be a successful change agent? What’s the difference with sustaining success? Where should you begin in driving change. With people? With processes? With products? Who are your best allies in driving change? How can you know you are succeeding?
Rising to enterprise leadership: Defining a powerful sense of purpose
This interactive session will focus on personal leadership and organizational leadership. It begins with the group developing an understanding of their personal sense of purpose in their business life – why they get up in the morning. Then the session will move to the role of an enterprise leader in in integrating their personal sense of purpose into a broader sense of purpose that is credible and reality based, that will foster commitment and engagement of their teams.
Should top leaders step into the issue of end of life care?
This will be a debate-format session around whether senior healthcare executives should take a stand on whether, and how much, life should be extended by health technologies. It will address questions of ethics and quality of life, and explore whether senior leaders in health care have an obligation to participate in the discussion, or whether it is perhaps not part of their remit.
The Digital Revolution: Leading into the new age of healthcare
New technologies are revolutionizing treatment and prevention of diseases. While not long ago, digital, artificial intelligence and other technologies were sometimes seen as add-ons to the core of healthcare, they are now becoming central actors. This session dives into the emerging role of the top leader in defining the role of digital in creating a competitive edge for their company.
Looking Around the Corner: What Will Be the Defining Leadership Challenges of Tomorrow?
This session will debate and challenge what we know today and what we must be prepared for in the future. This (deliberately) links from the ‘digital’ session but looks to explore broader topics and how these will change what a leader needs to be / manage.
The delegates may be asked to vote / for ideas in advance, which are then used to form the basis of the discussion.
Potential topics: include:
- Prevention rather than treatment – how does this affect the pharma model?
- Leading in a more risk averse world (from a regulator perspective)
- How can a leader assess the interdependence of the payor, provider and pharmaceutical value chains and how does the business need to be set up to support this?
- What do future-ready sales and marketing functions look like?
